U22 may taste like the finest tequila you’ve ever had — and that’s because it’s made the same way. Our spirit is distilled from 100% agave with the same traditional methods and passion used in Mexico. But here’s the key difference:

• Tequila is a protected designation of origin spirit. To legally be called “tequila,” it must be distilled in specific regions of Mexico — primarily the state of Jalisco — and follow strict regulations set by the CRT (Consejo Regulador del Tequila).

• Agave Spirit, on the other hand, refers to any distilled spirit made from agave outside those designated regions.

Because U22 is distilled in California, it cannot be labeled “tequila” — but in every other way, from its process to its flavor profile, it embodies the same artistry, authenticity, and soul. Think of it as a love letter to tequila’s tradition, crafted right here at home.
